Days Four and Five

I'm on the road again which has always been a challenge for me diet-wise. I have a real vacation frame of mind while traveling, even if it's not a vacation. What happens on the road, stays on the road.  Unfortunately it stays on the hips as well. While driving from St George to Phoenix I passed through Las Vegas and found my way to the Go Raw Cafe. I got two entrees which are big enough to cover four or five meals. I tried the Mexican Pizza which has crust of seeds and nuts. The toppings include a sesame seed sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes and sprouts. I also tried an Italian wrap with lots of veggies inside and a raw marinara sauce. It's not as good the second day but having supplies in the fridge gave me no excuses for eating unauthorized food.

Thursday 1-26-12  148 pounds - down half a pound

8:30 am Blueberry, pomegranate juice, spinach, beet greens and coconut water smoothie

11:30 Mexican pizza

3:00 Dairy Queen banana cream pie blizzard (it was a small and I really needed the sugar rush to keep me awake while driving.)

7:30 Cowboy Ciao's famous chopped salad (delish but lots of non-raw components-there I go again with the old vacation mentality)

9:00 ice cream (my evil twin sister made me eat it)

Friday 1-27-12 148 pounds - no change

8:30 am  same smoothie as yesterday morning

11:30 raw Mexican pizza

3:00 Lara bar raw date and nut bar

6:30  raw Italian wrap

9:00 Gelato (evil twin sister at it again)

I did put in three miles on the treadmill this morning before breakfast. I even jogged one of them. Tomorrow I will pass on any ice-cream or gelato that comes my way.

Day Three

Here is a sample of one day's worth of raw food.

148 down 1 pound from yesterday

I wasn't 100 percent raw today but pretty close. I felt better than yesterday and not nearly as grumpy.
I tried to run the 3 mile loop but ended up walking most of it- still a little tired.

9 am Green smoothie made with pomegranate juice, blueberries, strawberries, coconut water and collard leaves.

12:00 Big salad made with romaine, red peppers, cucumbers, dates and pumpkin seeds.

3:00 Peach, coconut water, pineapple, and banana shake

4:30 Frozen yogurt (not raw)

7:00 Broccoli salad

Draggin Thru Day Two

I've got a killer headache, a tummy ache and I've been grouchy as you know what most of the day. My children can verify the third one. Detoxing can be uncomfortable. But, I've made it through day two so underneath tired and grouchy is happy.

149 pounds (down 1)

8:30 wheatgrass juice and orange juice
10am banana and almond butter
1:00 pineapple, coconut, banana and almond milk shake
3;30 salad with pumpkin seeds and veggies
6:30 raw soup -blended sunflower seeds, tomato, carrot, celery, avocado, red pepper, spices and hot water

Off to bed and looking forward to feeling better tomorrow!

One Down, 29 to Go

Monday  150 pounds
So far so good. It was a tough day since hubby bought some sugar cookies and we all went out to lunch at Kneaders. There really wasn't anything completely raw and I didn't want to remove half of the $8.00 salad so I ate Zoe's lettuce and waited until I got home to prepare my own salad. It really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. No one cared if I didn't order lunch with them. The world continued as before. Maybe, just maybe, I'll pull this thing off. I probably ate too much food but it kept me from eating the wrong food. I never felt hungry all day, just a little sad as the cookies dissapeared without my help.

8am Wheatgrass juice and orange juice
10am Bunny spice shake (almond mild, carrot juice and a banana blended with cinnamon-delish)
1:00pm Bunny spice with chia seeds
3:00pm Salad with sprouts, pumpkin seeds, avocado, dates and balsamic vinagarette
7:00pm More of the same salad
8:00pm raw granola with almond milk

30 Day Raw Trial-Take Two

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow.
You're always a day away....

I'm starting over tomorrow which is the big, and not very special (yet) day of Monday, January 23, 2012. I wanted to start on a really special, catchy number day but 1-23-12 will have to do. Wish me luck, cross your fingers and try not to roll your eyes like my family does when I announce my raw plans. I, Sandi Smith, promise to report my efforts every single day for 30 days in a row on this blog. What I eat, how I feel, what I lose and what I gain. Come along for the ride!
